We are just a little over two weeks into 2017! How many of you made a New Year’s Resolution? I have and in all honesty, I’ve probably made more resolutions than I can count that haven’t lasted more than a few weeks into January. This year my goal is to stick with my resolutions!

To help myself and you all, I’ve come up with several tips to help us stick to our resolution.

1. Focus on the Big Picture! Instead of looking at just one little area to improve upon, take a big-picture approach. This will help us to improve upon our overall wellness and happiness.

2. Plan ahead! One reason resolutions often fail is that people don’t plan ahead. Winging it is often not the best idea, and while we all do it, planning makes achieving our goals much easier. When my workouts are planned, half of the hard work is done. All that’s left is for me to commit to my plan and follow through with it.

3. Mistakes are ok, but push past them! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to do something but have failed miserably. We are only human and mistakes will happen. Where we succeed is when we push past our slip ups and get back on track.

4. Reward yourself! Rewards are sometimes what we need to push past the difficult times. If it takes an incentive to help you achieve your goal, that is A-ok! The incentive can be something small, but this is something that can help you achieve and stick with your goal!

I hope your New Year is going great. Resolutions are complicated, and achieving them requires taking a hard look at what we are doing. Stick to your resolutions this year and tackle them head on! I know you can do it! Let me know how you’re doing!
