I cannot believe that Alexander is almost 6 months old. Everyone told me when I was pregnant, “It all goes by so fast,” but now I’m truly starting to understand that! There are several things that have surprised me in my parenthood journey so far and I thought I would share 5 of those with all of you…
- The time flies by.
You knew this one was coming. Like I said above, I am so shocked at how quickly the days go by now that Alexander is here. How is he already almost 6 months old? Half a year?! Now that I am realizing what everyone said is true, I am making a conscious effort to truly appreciate each day. I am so thankful for each day I get with him and it is SUCH a gift.
2. Everyone has their own opinion.
This has always been true but when a little one is thrown into the mix, everyone feels so inclined to tell you what they think. I appreciate all of the advice, but that doesn’t mean I have to take all of the advice that is offered. I think it is so helpful to hear another’s perspective, but I always take it with a grain of salt and adjust to fit the needs of my family. 🙂
3. I want to remember the good and the bad.
Everyone always says a picture is worth 1000 words, and I find that to be completely true. My camera roll is FULL of pictures of Alexander-and I am so grateful for it. I’m grateful for the beautiful styled images we have, but I am also grateful for the raw and real moments that I have pictures and videos of too. I want to try to remember as many days and moments with him as I can, and I have never regretted looking back on an image that I have taken or had taken-no matter how rough I might look or how messy my house might be.
4. Each stage is more and more fun.
I was in love with the newborn stage and didn’t think it could get any better. SPOILER-it does. Alexander is now starting to interact with Chase and I and getting a little personality of his own. It is the coolest thing! I can’t even imagine that he will be crawling, walking, and eventually TALKING in the next couple of months.
5. Your relationships will strengthen-with everyone.
This one was so interesting for me. I have always been extremely close with family, like I call my mom 3 times a day close. 🙂 When Alexander made his entrance, it was such an exciting thing for our entire family. I feel more connected to my family more now than I ever have. We FaceTime at least once a day and it has been such a blessing. Babies really do bring people together.
There are SO many things I could continue to add to this list, but I will save them for now. I am so grateful for this parenthood journey Chase and I are on, and we couldn’t love Alexander more. Parenthood is hard, but it is so rewarding at the same time. Thank you for following along on this journey with us. We are so grateful you’re here.
Until Next Time!
XO,
Ri
